State Rep. Cam Cavitt today delivered a tribute honoring the work of John Wallace, thanking him for his lifetime of dedicated service to Cheboygan County and Northern Michigan.
Wallace founded the East Mullett Fire Department and served as its first chief, demonstrating an early commitment to community service. He spent 17 years serving on the Inland Lakes Board of Education. As the current Chair of the Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners, he stands as the third longest-tenured county commissioner in the State of Michigan.
For 30 years, Wallace has also faithfully served as a deacon at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Indian River. He also is a longtime chaplain at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
“John represents the best of us,” said Cavitt (R-Cheboygan). “He has dedicated his entire life to helping those around him. Through strong values of service, faith, and leadership, he has helped the people of Cheboygan County and beyond. We’ll never be able to fully express our appreciation for his life’s work, but I am extremely proud to recognize his accomplishments today, and I thank him for his continued service to Northern Michigan.”
