State Representative Bill G. Schuette today was elected caucus whip by his House Republican colleagues for the 2027-28 legislative term.
“I am honored to be entrusted to this position by my fellow Republican legislators,” said Schuette, of Midland. “We will continue to serve as a voice for our constituents and help make Michigan a better, more affordable place to live, work and raise a family. That will involve significant reforms and debate about what’s best for people we represent, and I am looking forward to leading on that front.”
As whip, Schuette will keep Republican legislators up to date about important issues and decisions coming up in the Michigan House of Representatives. He will also serve as a liaison between caucus leadership and other representatives, tracking votes and assisting legislators with policy-related questions.
Schuette represents the 95th House District, which includes Midland County and portions of Gladwin and Bay counties. He has been instrumental during the 2025-26 legislative term in leading on bills and signed law that lower costs and tax burdens for Michigan workers and small business owners, securing flood mitigation resources for the region, pursuing greater government transparency efforts, and more.
Schuette is also a current member of the Michigan Legislative Council, a bipartisan, bicameral body of legislators that provides bill drafting, research and other services to members of the Legislature.
